It might be hard to come off as regular guys when you're starring in movies, training to be astronauts or rising through fog out of the stage floor, but the 'N Sync guys have succeeded better than most in presenting themselves to fans as pop idols who are real people.

Their self-deprecating sense of humor came out in the teleconference when, after a discussion of why they did the Chili's commercial, they were asked where they see themselves in five years. Chasez: "Five years is no problem. Now like 25, 30 years, mama, then we're all going to have back problems, knee problems. ... I know one thing. I'm going to be a lot hairier."

Kirkpatrick: "Oh, for God sakes. You're going to have hairy ears. We're going to sell out to Bic. Forget Chili's. Bic Shavers! 'N Sync uses them, so should you! Joey shaves his back! J.C. shaves his ears! Chris shaves his feet! ..."

Kirkpatrick sums it all up with a mix of humility and cockiness that is unique to 'N Sync. "We don't come out and worry about, 'You know, I have to put this makeup on to make sure that I look pretty for this T-shirt photo shoot that we're doing.' ... We're just five guys that are best friends having a great time with what we're doing, trying not to step on anybody else's toes but, you know, trying to change the face of music."
