Cartoon Network jumps into the awards season fray with the "1st 13th Annual Fancy Anvil Award Show Program Special...Live!... In Stereo" on Saturday, March 23, from 7-9 p.m. (ET, PT). Host Johnny Bravo will be joined by a cavalcade of stars scheduled to present during the Fancy Anvil awards ceremony, including Charles Barkley, Magilla Gorilla, Al Roker, Elmer Fudd, Sandy Duncan and Fred Flintstone.
The ultimate parody of the "kudocast," the "1st 13th Annual Cartoon Network Fancy Anvil Award Show Program Special" will gather the world's top animated stars at the Hanna-Barbera Pavilion for an unforgettable night honoring outstanding achievements in cartoon excellence and quirkiness.
The program will feature red carpet arrivals, peculiar awards categories, rambling speeches, cheesy music, celebrity cameos and the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement award. In six award categories including Best Villain and Best Cartoon, fans will decide who will take home the coveted Fancy Anvil by casting their vote online at CartoonNetwork.com during the week of March 11. The winners for the remaining categories will be selected by Cartoon Network’s “elite panel of animation aficionados."
Sandy Duncan will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to the hardest working dog in show business, Scooby-Doo. New Scooby-Doo Movies co-stars Jonathon Winters, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Phyllis Diller and Davy Jones will accompany Duncan in honoring the beloved Scooby-Doo. Also among the highlights of the evening, Debbie Allen will present a tribute to dance, as seen in cartoons through years.
In a more somber segment, Cartoon Network and its stars will take a moment to honor Bill Hanna and his incredible achievements to animated entertainment during a tribute highlighting his remarkable career. Hanna’s precise comedic timing, along with Joe Barbera’s strong animation skills, fostered the careers of cherished cartoon favorites including Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Scooby-Doo, Quickdraw McGraw, The Flintstones and The Jetsons.
Finally, the evening will culminate with the awarding of the night’s highest honor, The Fancy Anvil in the Best Cartoon category.
