Jenn (my best friend) and I got to the ballpark @ 4:30ish. We walked around for about five minutes when we saw where the press conference was going to be- it was this long black tent with a bunch of seats set up and everybody had a nametag so we saw exactly where Chris was going to sit. He was actually on the opposite side of us so we were on the right and he was on the left. The girls around us were mainly there for Mike Modano and Brett Hull, but they were kinda there for Chris. We were all talking, and this really familiar girl is standing on the side talking to a press guy. She looks uber familiar, and then her three friends walk in. It was Dream- which would explain their nametags cuz when we saw Ashley Poole's nametag we were like, "Damn that sounds familiar." and three seats down was Kasey Sheridan. I was like, "That Kasey could be Kasey from Dream." and Jenn goes, "Gina look at the nametags next to her. Ashley, Holly, Diana, and Kasey." I'm like, "Ooh." They wal! ked in and looked MISERABLE. I mean yes it was 102º outside but you wear heat appropriate clothing! Ashley was wearing a long sleeve shirt!
So about ten minutes later of watching Dream sit in their spots the first group of celebrities walk out. Brett Hull is in this group, and I think Mike Modano is too. I'm looking, and theres no Chris. Five minutes after that, the second group comes out. I lean over the barricade and he is the first person I see.
Gina: "THERES CHRIS! *turns to Jenn* my baby!"
Well we're all trying to get shots of Chris but there are photographers in our way; we yelled at the photographers and to Chris but it didn't work. So the press conference gets under way and Chris looks @ me like ten times. I'm not even listening to the others I'm looking straight at Chris. Pat O' Brien from Access Hollywood was doing the press conference, and he went over to Chris and asked him something about NSYNC. I pop up.
Gina: "WHOO NSYNC!"
Chris was probably just like, "This chick in the green is getting on my nerves." LOL, but the girls around me cheer after I yell. Chris is talking and a bunch of girls in the back yell, "WE LOVE YOU CHRIS!" Chris just keeps talking and goes, "thank you," it was great, but he really did appreciate it. Pat O'Brien asked if anybody had questions, but none of us really did so they decided to end the conference right there. All the celebs get up and a lot of them leave, and I'm keeping an eye on Chris the entire time. He is talking to this rapper (whose identity we still do not know) and doing some press, and then he starts talking to a guy on his team. He's all the way over on the right, and he looks like he is about to leave. I was not going to let that happen. In a last ditch effort I threw my arms up in the air, jumped on my tiptoes, and screamed at the top of my lungs.
Gina: "CHRIS COME TALK TO US!!!!!!!!!!"
Chris turns his head towards my direction and the other girls catch on. They wave him over and are just agreeing with me and stuff. Well... Chris says goodbye to the guy he is talking to and COMES OVER! I know y'all are thinking I must've been freaking out. Well- I looked the other direction for a second and just thought to myself, "OMG. He is coming over. I think this is my chance." I was calm the entire time. I'm not kidding!
He comes over to us, and he has a big smile on his face and everything.
Chris: "Man we've got some stars over here."
Whatever that meant. Jenn gets him.
Jenn: "Chris- I have a question for you. Will you take a picture with my friend?"
Chris: "Of course!"
He misheard and went to take a pic with Jenn. So I take the pic of them.
Gina: "Can I get one?"
Chris: "Sure!"
He put his arm around me, and I put my arm around him, AND WE TOOK A PICTURE! It was a great moment.
Gina: "Thank you Chris!"
Two of the girls around me want me to take a pic of them with Chris. The last girl's camera I had issues with cuz my hands were shaking so bad.
Gina: "OMG JENN I HAVE TO CALL WHITNEY!!!!!"
Jenn: "Can we get out of the crowd first?"
We turn around and BAM- Mark Cuban (owns Dallas Mavericks) is right in our face. What cracks me up about him is that he didn't have a number on his jersey. He had two dollar signs. That made me laugh. I called Whitney, Sara, and my mom, and when we went down to the field Chris was entering at the same time. I got some great pics, and he signed my cd sleeve. Now this is interesting.
Chris is warming up with another player and all of us are watching as they're throwing the ball back and forth. Chris is on the farther side from us, but then they decide to be goofballs and catch it different ways. The guy throws it to Chris and Chris misses.
Gina: "NICE CATCH CHRIS!"
Chris was turned around to go get the ball, but he turned his head to face me- and patted his butt. I think Chris told me to kiss his ass. LOL I just brushed it off I'm sure he didn't mean it if he really was telling me to kiss it. We found our seats and watched the home run derby, and I went down to the front when Chris came up to bat. After Chris's last swing they started playing Bye Bye Bye- unintentionally. Chris just had this funny look on his face and the announcer goes, "Sorry Chris! It was an accident!"
After the homerun derby we went back down near homeplate cuz we saw Jake Thomas (Lizzie McGuire's little bro on the show) and we wanted to get his autograph. He is a little brat! Thirteen years old with a HUGE ego. When he finally did sign our programs he was nice. I think Jake just needs to learn to be more attentive to the fans. I got to meet the little kid from Stuart Little too. Jonathan Lipnicki I think is his name. He is precious. We just ended up sitting there for the game. It was great though we were RIGHT next to the dugout for Chris's team. I kept tabs on him the WHOLE game. I cheered for him when he went up to bat, and we were dancing to the songs it was great. Chris's team was down 1-6 for about 4 or 5 innings until we caught up and tied it. The other time shot ahead 8-6, but then we tied it in the bottom of the 9th. Cuttino Mobley (Houston Rockets) was at third base, and all we needed was a good base hit to win the game. My little Chris was up at bat, and Mik! e Modano and another guy from the team are watching. The only problem is they are in my way. I don't give a rip if Mike Modano is the best hockey player in the US. He was obstructing my view of Chris.
Gina: "MODANO! YOU'RE IN MY WAY MOVE!!!"
He moved! Chris made the base hit and Mobley crossed home and Chris's team won 9-8. There are a lot of other good moments from the game, but I'll blog about those later. It was such a great night I can't believe I met him.
